Sr. Telecom QA Test Engineer
REMOTE
Full-time
Company Introduction
NetLync is a global leader in eSIM and Entitlement solutions, providing a cloud-native platform that enables wireless carriers to deliver and manage essential services across all connected devices with a single integration and in just a few weeks.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a small, fast-moving, and highly flexible entrepreneurial environment. We are a small, closely-knit group, so your contribution will have a direct impact on the success of the whole organisation. You will interact with our teams based in Dublin, London, Croatia and Canada as well as mobile operators, infrastructure providers and device manufacturers around the world. You will get exposure to cutting edge technologies while working within an agile and highly collaborative team environment that allows you to take ownership of your work and shape your own future.
Job Description
Due to continued growth and ongoing success, we are expanding our Quality Assurance function and are seeking an experienced Senior Telecom QA Test Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the reliability, performance and overall quality of our core platform, while supporting the onboarding, testing and certification of mobile operators and devices.
A key responsibility will be executing certification campaigns for mobile network services on live carrier networks, including validating carrier integrations with our platform. You will perform tests on physical devices, analyse results, troubleshoot complex issues and prepare the technical evidence required for certification.
As a senior member of the QA team, you will work closely with engineering and platform teams to identify defects and edge cases, develop effective test strategies, improve automation and strengthen quality processes across the onboarding and certification lifecycle. We are looking for someone with a strong telecom and mobile-device testing background who is technically hands-on, analytical and comfortable troubleshooting complex issues across software, carrier networks and physical devices.
Job Requirements
Responsibilities
- Plan, estimate, and deliver QA and testing activities both within the Scrum team and on live carrier networks, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and on-time execution.
- Develop, maintain, and document comprehensive test plans and test cases for new features and existing functionality.
- Conduct manual testing across mobile applications, web platforms, and APIs, validating functionality, performance, and user experience.
- Execute functional, performance, and mobility testing in the field, covering areas such as 5G SA/NSA, VoNR, throughput, and user experience KPIs under both static and mobility conditions.
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate repetitive or high-value test scenarios, improving efficiency, consistency, and test coverage.
- Create clear and detailed defect reports and enhancement requests, effectively communicating impact, severity, and priority to engineering teams.
- Identify data anomalies, network blockers, defects, and schedule risks early, ensuring issues are addressed before they impact carriers or other stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, support, and operations teams to improve release readiness and ensure smooth and predictable certification cycles.
- Define and continuously improve carrier-focused QA and certification processes, introducing preventative measures and best practices that strengthen product quality and reliability.
- Play a central role in shaping and growing the NetLync Certification function, contributing to its structure, processes, tooling, and long-term strategy.
- Mentor and support junior QA engineers through knowledge-sharing, technical guidance, and quality oversight.
- Work hands-on in a fast-paced, agile, and asynchronous environment, contributing individually while supporting the wider team.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in telecom QA, carrier acceptance, device or field testing, preferably gained within a mobile operator, test house, device manufacturer, or telecom technology provider.
- Solid working knowledge of 3GPP mobile architecture, including 5G SA/NSA, LTE, IMS, VoLTE, VoNR and Wi-Fi Calling, together with associated signalling protocols such as RRC, NAS and SIP.
- Hands-on experience executing test plans against live mobile networks, under both static and mobility conditions and across iOS and Android devices.
- Demonstrable experience capturing, analysing and troubleshooting device and network logs using tools such as QXDM, QCAT, QPST, Wireshark, ADB or iOS equivalents.
- Strong experience in exploratory testing and test-plan development, with the ability to identify edge cases, unexpected behaviours and potential product or integration issues.
- Experience with performance and non-functional testing, including load, stress and scalability testing, is a strong advantage.
- Experience with security testing, particularly authentication, network security or platform-level security validation, is an advantage.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and cross-functional, distributed teams across multiple time zones.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, identify risks early and maintain clear ownership of deadlines and deliverables.
- A proactive and collaborative mindset, comfortable working closely with engineering, product, operations and support teams while continuously identifying opportunities to improve quality, processes and tooling.
- Willing and able to travel internationally for testing campaigns and hold a valid passport.
Desirable Skills
- Exposure to GSMA TS.43 service entitlement configuration.
- Familiarity with eSIM, SM-DP+ interactions and consumer eSIM provisioning.
- Experience with drive test and field measurement tools such as TEMS, Nemo or Accuver.
- Python, for automating test execution or working through result data.
