The Role

You will be part of a high performing Agile Software Engineering Team supporting our proprietary UNITE platform. You will interact with our teams based in Dublin, London, Vancouver as well as global mobile operators, infrastructure providers, device manufacturers and our international retail partners. Job Description

Due to continued success and growth, we are expanding our development team and are now looking for a Security Engineer with a programming background ideally with Python or Java to join our Platform Engineering Infrastructure team. This role is key to building best-in-class infrastructure to safeguard users’ data and empower our engineering team to process and store customer data in a safe, secure, and compliant way by default. We build the core tooling and infrastructure that allows us to programmatically understand and track all data we store, and the infrastructure that powers access control, encryption, deletion, and anonymization of data. This role will report to the DevOps Infrastructure Lead who is responsible maintaining a platform/ framework/ DevOps culture.

We’re looking for an infrastructure-focused engineer to design, build, and lead adoption of infrastructure and tools that create strong security invariants for the protection of our users’ data. You will have the opportunity to build abstractions, frameworks and libraries that allow our engineers to focus on their job while security and compliance is done correctly for them under the cover. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with infrastructure automation as well as Application Continuous Delivery, applied to Java, Python and JavaScript technologies.

  • Contribute to technical projects that will be leveraged across our platform infrastructure to help keep customer’s data safe

  • Collaborate with the wider platform engineering team to define security invariants that will drive data security by default

  • Reason clearly about the technology and architecture choices we make in building. In many cases, you will be the decision maker in this process.

  • Directly contribute to core infrastructure design and write code

  • Work with a wide range of systems, processes, and technologies to solve problems at scale from end-to-end

  • Handle Infrastructure as code, contributing to making our infrastructure fully automated, simple, reliable, and easy to operate

  • Awareness of industry direction and trends in infrastructure as code security tooling and best practices

  • Develop and implement systems that aid and facilitate our rapid growth including the implementation of security policies, future security procedures, security configuration management and planning

  • Design, operate and automate operational tasks, such as Networking configuration, Server provisioning, backup/restore, disaster recovery, monitoring and alerting

  • Provide input to an on-going cloud cost optimisation process

  • Implement security best practices

  • Working with your agile team colleagues, your technical leaders and the Scrum Master and Product Owner to build quality solutions that are capable of long-term testability and growth whilst delivering focused, value driven changes to a high-quality standard

  • Help the team avoid performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities and help with architecture decisions while ensuring that applications and services run quickly, efficiently and securely with minimum oversight

Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other relevant discipline or equivalent work experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in DevOps / Software Configuration Management / Software Engineering

  • Programming experience required, preferably Python 

  • A willingness and enthusiasm to improve and develop new skills and learn new technologies

  • CI/CD and test automation experience

  • Good Linux experience

  • Must have experience with:

    • EDR configuration and analysis

    • An understanding of network and web related protocols (such as, TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, HTTPS, routing protocols)

    • DevSecOps Automation

    • CI/CD Security implementations through the use of IAST, SAST, DAST

    • Practical cryptographic knowledge of common technologies such as TLS and more.

    • Optionally: Experience in penetration testing

    • Audit compliance

  • Must have AWS experience with:

    • IAM Roles and Policies

    • Manage identity cross-account.

    • KMS encryption keys

    • ACM certificates

    • VPC peering

    • AWS Config

    • CloudTrail

    • WAF

    • CORS

    • Organisations, especially with SCP.

    • Storage security policies (DB, S3, EBS, EFS)

  • Nice to have

    • AWS Certified Security - Specialty

  • Experience working in a cross functional Scrum team in an agile environment

  • Solid English communication skills

  • We work in an Agile team environment, directed by a business-based product owner and a scrum master. Sprints are fortnightly and useful, working software is expected to be produced at the end of each sprint.  All development efforts follow Agile principles closely.
